About this website
This website is operated by Equal Roots, an unincorporated association based in Wales, governed by the law of England and Wales. By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the site.
Who we are and what we do
Equal Roots is a peer-support and signposting group for parents of any gender going through custody and child-arrangement disputes. We share practical experience between parents and point people towards relevant legal, welfare, and support organisations.
We are not solicitors, mediators, or counsellors. Nothing on this website, and nothing said by anyone connected with Equal Roots, should be relied on as legal, financial, or professional advice, and it doesn’t create a solicitor-client relationship or any other professional duty of care. We don’t represent members in court or in mediation, and we don’t take sides in anyone’s individual dispute.
If you need legal advice, we’d encourage you to speak to a qualified solicitor or to organisations such as Cafcass Cymru, Citizens Advice, or the Law Society’s Find a Solicitor service — details of which are on our Useful Links page.
Safeguarding
If you or a child is in immediate danger, please contact the police on 999. If you have a non-urgent safeguarding concern about a child, please contact your local children’s social services team or the police on 101. Equal Roots is not a safeguarding authority and can’t intervene directly in individual cases.

Third-party links
Our Useful Links page, and other parts of the website, may link to external websites run by other organisations, such as statutory bodies, charities, and support services. We’re not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of those external websites, and including a link doesn’t mean we endorse everything on it.
