What We Do

Support That Meets You Where You Are

Equal Roots is a peer-support community for parents navigating separation, offering practical guidance, a listening ear, and signposting to the right services.

Peer Support

  • Shared Understanding: Connect with parents who personally know the pain, exhaustion, and isolation of being alienated or denied contact with their child.
  • Safe, Non-Judgemental Space: Speak openly about the emotional toll of fighting for your relationship with your child in a confidential environment built on true empathy.
  • Strength in Community: Find reassurance and solidarity alongside peers and volunteers who are navigating—or have survived—similar battlegrounds to maintain parental bonds.

Practical Guidance

  • Navigating the System: Access plain-English advice on managing legal processes, court hearings, and working with Cafcass Cymru when fighting for contact.
  • Real-World Strategies: Gain practical tips from parents who have gone through repeated court applications on keeping clear records, preparing evidence, and staying organised.
  • Empowered Boundaries: Learn how to manage the logistical aspects of court disputes effectively, alongside reminders that we offer lived-experience insights rather than legal advice.

Signposting

  • Legal & Mediation Links: Connect quickly with specialist family law solicitors and legal resources experienced in contact denial and parental alienation cases.
  • Emotional Resilience: Access trusted referrals for individual counselling and mental health support to help you stay grounded through ongoing legal battles.
  • Statutory & Safeguarding Services: Find direct routes to Citizens Advice, legal aid guidance, and official services when urgent intervention or statutory clarity is required.

Equal Parenting Rights

  • Fighting Parental Alienation: Firmly uphold the fundamental right of a child to have an unhindered, loving relationship with both parents free from unjust interference.
  • Equal Parental Standing: Advocate for court fairness that treats targeted parents with dignity, rejecting unjust barriers placed on active, safe parenting.
  • Child-Centred Justice: Champion the belief that child-arrangement decisions must prioritise the child’s long-term emotional well-being by keeping both parents meaningfully involved.
